some changes may have been overlooked.

prenotes

text ids

i don't have a proper table of text ids for ffl3 and saga3 yet. so for the moment, these are numbered as in saga3-ffl3-text-final.txt.

ffl3 glyphs

the ellipsis glyph in ffl3 and saga3 is four small dots. as in ffl, this is sometimes used alongside a regular stop, which looks even weirder here than it did there. this file uses the "horizontal ellipsis" character in place of the ffl3 glyph.

ffl3 uses a "99" double quote to mark the end of speech, and a reversed 99 double quote (not a "66" quote) to mark the beginning. this file uses the "left double quote" and "right double quote" characters.

ffl3 also has a single glyph representing a stop and a close-quote that's used sometimes at the end of speech. here that's represented as a separate stop and close-quote; there's at least one case where that makes the margin look wrong.

one speech quoted here uses the "T" symbol (martial arts/wrestling) in the gb version. here that's just a T. other symbols are represented by an asterisk.

changes

#237

(woman in dharm)

gb:

You can jump over
people and holes
using B.

CoS:

You can jump over
people and holes.

#238

(child in dharm)

gb:

Push A to speed up
the messages.
Push B to pause.

CoS:

Messages can be
sped up or paused!

#287

(waterhag in lae)

gb:

D…Don't attack me!
I'm a human!

CoS:

D-Don't attack me!
I'm a human!

#406

(past cronos after granny returns from cave)

gb:

Cronos:
“Yea! Granny is
 back now.”

CoS:

Cronos:
“Yay! Granny is
 back now.”

#402

(past granny gives you dive: excerpt)

gb:

Granny:
“It's *Dive. Use
 it at a shore
 facing the water
 and you'll go in.
 Push A to dive.”

CoS:

Granny:
“It's *Dive. Use
 it at a shore
 facing the water
 and you'll go in.

(they cut off the end but didn't bother to put the closing quote back in...?)

#309

(man in viper mall)

gb:

Humans are good at
weapons. Beasts
are good at Ts.
Mutants are good
at magic.

CoS:

Humans are good at
weapons. Beasts
excel at talents.
Mutants are good
at magic.

(this is where the gb version uses the taijutsu symbol as mentioned above.)

#313

(personnel - check which? - in pulcer's undersea shelter)

gb:

Dr.Pulcer is an
Talon expert.

CoS:

Dr.Pulcer is a
Talon expert.

(the gb version is probably a remnant of an earlier version of the script, seen in some screenshots in the manual, where the Talon was called "Eonis". hence it would have been "an Eonis expert".)

#436

(pulcer explains the plan: excerpt)

gb:

Pulcer:
“Plan is this. Use
 *Rocket at a pier
 near Palace to
 get to Floatland.

CoS:

Pulcer:
“Plan is this. Use
 *Rocket at a pier
 near the Palace
 to get to
 Floatland.

#437

(pulcer explains the plan: another excerpt)

gb:

Arthur:
“Yes.”
Pulcer:
“Fate of group 1-
 Jupiah, Borgin,
 and Quacer, lies
 in your hands!”

CoS:

Arthur:
“Yes.”
“The fate of
 Jupiah, Borgin,
 and Quacer lies
 in your hands!”

(it's not clear why pulcer has lost his attribution here. maybe they needed to save some space for elsewhere?)

#314

(man in floatland town)

gb:

Master Sol came
from the Pureland,
like monsters did.

CoS:

Master Sol came
from Pureland likethe monsters did.

(something went really wrong here. what's shown here, going outside the implied borders, is my best guess at what the new text is. what actually happens is that it overprints itself, and you just see this:)

Master Sol came/___m Pureland liket/did.

#315

(woman in floatland town)

gb:

You might find the
Unit in the ruins
to the north.

CoS:

You might find the
unit in the ruins
to the north.

("Unit" is generally capitalised throughout gb ffl3. this is the only instance of it being decapitalised in CoS; other than here it's always still "Unit".)

#439c

(call talon to floatland: excerpt)

gb:

Arthur:
“Let's go aground.”

CoS:

“Let's go aboard.”

(these read like two opposite things but i guess they're both saying the same in context: let's board the talon, then fly off floatland and to the ground of the world proper.)

(the notes i kept suggest the attribution is missing in CoS - play again and make sure?)

(the gb version looks here like it overlaps the screen edge, but it doesn't. the stop and close-quote are really a single character.)

#346

(man in darius)

gb:

I've seen Talon'
crew in this town
before!

CoS:

I've seen Talon's
crew in this town
before!

(presumably another remnant of "Eonis")

#335

(confronting fenrir: excerpt)

gb:

Arthur:
“You say Jupiah
 was beat?”

CoS:

Arthur:
“You say Jupiah
 was beaten?”

#331

(eitar, after defeating fenrir: excerpt)

gb:

 He was an Talon
 chief crew and
 can help you
 gather other
 members.”

CoS:

 He was a Talon
 crew chief and
 can help you
 gather other
 members.”

#382, #384, #448, #455

(these are various departing ships that all say the same thing with slight variations, some of which are different in CoS.)

(#382 knaya to darius)

gb:

Ship to Darius is
departing. Get on!

(#384 porle to knaya)

gb:

Ship to Knaya is
departing. Get on!

(#448 darius to knaya)

gb:

Ship to Knaya is
departing, get on.

CoS:

Ship to Knaya is
departing, Get on.

(#455 knaya to porle)

gb:

Ship to Porle is
departing, get on.

CoS:

Ship to Porle is
departing, Get on.

#465

(recruiting masa: excerpt)

gb:

Arthur:
“Then you're 1 of
 the Talon' 4 crew
 members?”

CoS:

Arthur:
“Then you're 1 of
 the Talon's 4
 crew members?”

#007

(confronting agron: excerpt)

gb:

Dion:
“Then take this!”
Arthur:
“Dion! What?!”

CoS:

Dion:
“Then take this!”
Arthur:
“Dion! What!?”

#478

(talon on mt goht: excerpt)

gb:

Arthur:
“! My dad?!”
Borgin:
“We're all risking
 our lives for the
 Future,let's go!”

CoS:

Arthur:
“My dad?!”
Borgin:
“We're all risking
 our lives for the
 future,let's go!”

#180

(somebody gets paralyzed)

gb:

1C1FFF is
paralized.

CoS:

1C1FFF is
paralyzed.

#112

(some quantity of light and dark stones... will make stuff)

gb:

CoS:
